Six construction workers from Barnsley decided to play lotto as a syndicate for the first time ever and were presently surprised to discover they won the amazing £300.000 prize.
The lucky group, who work in Glasgow and all live near each other in Barnsley, matched five numbers and one Lucky Star in October 7th Euromillions draw. The men – Nigel Himsworth, 41, Adam Wright, 27, Ashley Robinson, 28, Adam Booth, 20, Michael Hunt, 31, and Darren Fisher, 42 – work for specialist contractor Kirk Environmental and have been in Glasgow for the past few weeks.
The idea to play together was initiated by Nigel Himsworth, who occasionally buys Euromillions tickets.
“A couple of the lads are new to the team and we were chatting and decided we would give it a go as a syndicate,” said Mr. Himsworth and added they are over the moon with the win. “We went out for a celebration at the weekend when we were home and we were treated like pop stars. It hasn’t really sunk in yet so no one has decided what to spend their money on at this stage, but I’m sure there will be a few holidays being planned.”
Each member of the gang took home their £55.000 prize and the youngest one of them – 20-year-old Adam Booth already spent part of his share on Audi A3 despite not having a license yet.
“I haven’t even passed my test but if the car is sitting there on the driveway, it’s a great incentive to get the head down and pass,” said the young winner.
